Intro
Martvili Canyon and Prometheus Cave are one the most visited sites in all of Georgia, and for good reason. These sites count among the natural wonders of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. A 2,5 km long canyon with 80 m high steep rock walls and foggy subtropical forest makes the place unique. The nearby Prometheus Cave, with its hundreds of natural halls shaped by geological formations such as stalactites and stalagmites, gives the best opportunity to immerse yourself in the mystical nature of the Caucasus.

Itinerary

Batumi – Martvili – Tskaltubo – Batumi
Departure from Batumi in the morning, following the scenic Black Sea coast through traditional Colchic villages. After approximately three hours, arrival at Martvili Canyon, a natural masterpiece shaped over millions of years.
A 700-meter trail runs along turquoise waters, high limestone walls, and waterfalls hidden within dense subtropical forest. A 25-minute boat ride offers a unique view of the canyon’s most impressive sections.
Lunch in a local restaurant, featuring traditional specialties such as (a rich blend of cornmeal and cheese), Kupati (spiced sausages), homemade bread, seasonal vegetables, and regional natural bewerages.

In the afternoon, visit to Prometheus Cave. A guided walk through illuminated chambers reveals impressive stalactites, stalagmites, underground rivers, and intricate stone formations, creating a surreal subterranean landscape.
Return to Batumi in the evening.
An optional stop at Batumi’s Fish Marcet offers the opportunity to enjoy freshly prepared seafood such as sardines, dorado, or turbot by the sea.
